It is that time of year to decorate for Halloween! My family and I can’t wait until it hits October because then we pull out the awesome Halloween decorations we have made or bought over the years. My first Teach Me Tuesday DIY tutorial is a really easy Halloween themed yarn garland that the kids can help make for their rooms too!
All you are going to need:
Yarn in orange, white, black and green (or if you want to get colorful other colors)
Scissors
Your hands or piece of cardboard 2-3″ to make the pom poms
Here is how to make the Ghosts:
Wrap the yarn around your hand. I did 50, 75 and 100 times as an example to you.
Cut a 12″ piece of white
Create a loop around one end of the group of loops
Tie off the yarn. This will be attached to the garland. Then cut the loops other end.
Cut a 9″ white yarn.
About an inch down, tie the white yarn piece around the yarn to create the ghost’s head.
Trim the bottom of the yarn yarn to the look and length you desire for your ghost.
This is my example of 50, 75 and 100 loops.
Wrap the yarn around your hand. I did 3 sizes wrapped 50, 75 and 100 times to show the difference in looks.
cut a 12″ tail in orange and a 12″ tail in green
Tie the orange tie around the top first to secure then tie the green to be attached to the garland
Cut the bottom of the loop
trim the yarn to create the round shape and length you desire.
The 3 sizes that I created in 50, 75 and 100 loops around my hand.
This is a more pom pom looking pumpkin which you create the same way just cut the yarn and spread it to make it more round.
To make the spiders, follow the same steps as the pumpkins just cut the yarn short to make them look like legs.
This is the spiders which is the same steps as the pumpkin but I cut the black yarn to create a short pom pom.
To make the garland, measure the length you need to hand the garland. I did 2 lenghts of both orange and black and tied the 4 strands together.
Tie the ghosts, pumpkins and spiders the garland and hang in house!
